Dishes

I love to cook, but I hate the dishes. I imagine most
of us feel that way. But what I hate more is not
being able to cook because of the dirty dishes, so I
usually give in to the inevitable and clean them.

On October 27, I spent many hours learning and then
practicing and then performing the thriller dance (!)
– that of course, is a whole other story but back to
dishes – and anyway, since then, the dishes have been
piling up. Maybe a dish or two gets cleaned for
breakfast or a snack each day, but other than that,
we’ve been eating out consistently since then. That’s
11 days, though a few of those days were spent out of
town or meeting up with friends, but you get the idea.

A couple of days ago, on the way to a Thai restaurant
down the block, I realized I was really tired of
eating out. Today, I’m readying myself to face the
dishes head on as I’m starting to feel some
improvement in my body, and more importantly, I’m just
done. It wasn’t the thai food – it was delicious –
but I’m sure if you’re reading this, you like to eat
your own food from time to time, and you understand
what I mean. And even though I know I will get it
done, and I know it will feel really good once it’s
done, I can’t help but admit . . . oh nevermind.
